![]() On Debain, I built the Linux from Boundary Devices for the i.MX6 microcontrollers, and rebooted QEMU to that Linux, and built my own software on it. I have implemented this method for my application: Debian-Linux together with the GNU-toolchain are installed on QEMU. This is important for safety critical systems. You can create a system with as few packages as needed. It is much like software development on PC.None of the disadvantages of Cross Compiling. ![]() It distributes the precompilation on the local network, including the host. That’s it! To speed up the build, we use distcc. finally, copy the image of the simulated system to your device and reboot the device. Reboot QEMU to linux, and build your own software. One installs Linux together with the tool-chain on QEMU. The target architecture is simulated with QEMU. This idea is foremost adhered by Rob Landley with his mkroot project.
